Right flank pain.
Patient Data
Patchy ground-glass opacities are seen at both lung fields, predominate in peripheral regions; highly suggestive for viral pneumonia including COVID19.
A large mass with abundant fat (-68HU) was seen in posterior aspect of upper pole of right kidney displacing kidney anteriorly. It also has solid non-fat component, which shows enhancement after IV contrast media.
Another similar but smaller mass was seen in anterior aspect of right kidney.
Uterus and ovaries were not seen (prior surgery).
Case Discussion
The patient underwent right renal masses resection and histopathology evaluation confirms angiomyolipoma which is a type of benign renal neoplasms encountered both sporadically and as part of a phakomatosis, most commonly tuberous sclerosis.
AMLs usually have characteristic radiographic appearances.
