Can you see a clue to the ultimate diagnosis?
Left upper quadrant mass on Lumbar spine MR.
You have been asked to biopsy the neck mass. What would you like to know before you proceed?
The mass could be a phaeochromocytoma, so you want to know if the tumour is hormonally active. Catecholamine hypersecretion would require alpha- and beta- blockade cover to prevent a hypertensive crisis.
14 x 13 x 11cms adrenal mass with a well-defined lobulated contour, areas of necrosis and calcification, indenting the upper pole of the left kidney and displacing it. No venous invasion or abdominal metastases. Small fluid attenuation liver lesions are likely to be cysts.
