Presentation
Long-standing manubriosternal joint pain.
Patient Data
Tc-99m-MDP scintigraphy
Increased radiotracer uptake around the manubriosternal joint.
Lumbar scoliosis convex to the right.
NECT performed right after bone scintigraphy showing extensive periarticular sclerosis and erosions of the manubriosternal joint.
Enhancement in the manubriosternal joint. Mild irregularity of the joint surfaces - cortical erosions, shown clearly on the CT study. Low signal on all sequences on both sides of the joint, compatible with sclerosis, shown on the CT study.
The sternoclavicular joints are symmetrical and of normal appearance, without evidence of edema or synovial enhancement. Normal bone marrow signal in all other bones included in the study. The fat planes, the muscles, and the neurovascular structures are preserved.
In summary:
Erosive arthritis of the manubriosternal joint.
Case Discussion
Unfortunately, this was an outpatient and so she was lost to follow-up.
