Nodular fasciitis - forearm

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Rapidly growing nodule on the palmar side of the left forearm. Mild local pain. No fever/ trauma.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

There is a well-defined lesion in the region of interest, measuring about 18 x 18 x 5 mm. It is located in the deeper part of the subcutaneous fat and abuts the fascia. Normal palmaris longus lies deep to the lesion. The lesion is heterogeneously hypoechoic with few linear echogenic foci without capsule/calcification/ cystic changes/acoustic enhancement/ acoustic shadow/ compressibility/ vascularity.
The perilesional subcutaneous fat is echogenic mildly increased vascularity.

Case Discussion

A female presented with a palmar side forearm nodule for the last few days. Ultrasound features favor nodular fasciitis. Surgical excision was done and the histopathology diagnosis was nodular fasciitis.
