Peritoneal tuberculosis with salpingitis

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Moderate abdominal distension, weight loss and low grade fever.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female

Moderate ascites with nodular thickening and enhancement of the peritoneal reflections,  and extensive omental stranding with fixed bowel loops. Reactive thickening with enhancement of the small bowel wall.

Thickening with enhancement of the fallopian tubes suggestive of salpingitis.

Moderate hepatosplenomegaly with no focal hepatic or splenic lesion is seen.

Case Discussion

The clinical presentation and the CT features are sugggestive of peritoneal tuberculosis with salpingitis that was confirmed by a coelioscopic biopsy.
