Chest x-ray demonstrates a metallic foreign body in the esophagus without evidence of perforation.
Abdominal x-ray demonstrates a rounded metallic pellet in the right iliac fossa.
Case Discussion
Children, for some reason, seem fascinated by objects they can swallow. Many of these are radiolucent and therefore do not offer the opportunity for interesting x-rays. Metallic foreign bodies however do allow radiologists to try and work out what the item is. This goes to show just how dull we are.
