There is a large relatively well-circumscribed intramuscular mass centred on the vastus intermedius muscle (measuring 120 x 95 x 70 mm) with no fatty interface with the femoral cortex. It displays a low signal with areas slight high signal to the muscles on T1, very high T2 with hypointense internal septae and areas of restricted diffusion. The post-contrast dynamic sequences show a progressive and heterogeneous enhancement. Normal thickness and signal intensity of the femoral cortex with homogeneous bone marrow. oedematous infiltration of the vastus medialis muscle.
Right inguinoscrotal hernia containing mesenteric fat as well as a small bowel loop.
