Patent foramen ovale closure device and an insertable cardiac monitor
Presentation
The patient was referred for an MRI of the lumbar spine and screening confirmed cardiac devices in situ.
Patient Data
The chest X-ray confirms a Reveal LINQ insertable cardiac monitor in situ (ICM).
There is, in addition, an Amplatzer patent foramen ovale (PFO) occluder device in situ.
Case Discussion
The Reveal LINQ insertable cardiac monitor(ICM) is MRI-safe
The Amplatzer patent foramen ovale (PFO) occluding device is made from a nitinol alloy (nickel-titanium) and is MRI conditional and can safely be scanned at 1.5 and 3.0 Tesla strengths.
Image quality is compromised if scanning the area of the devices or close to the area of devices.
