Presentation

Occipital headache with ataxia.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

The left styloid process is elongated and curved more posteromedially with compression of the internal carotid artery against the lateral compartment of the C2 vertebra.

On the right side, the styloid process is also elongated but still shorter than the right one.

Coronal MIP shows elongated styloid processes (green arrows).

Case Discussion

Clinical suspicion of an internal carotid artery dissection is the main indication of performing this CTA study.
