Presentation

Symptoms started 3 days ago after lifting a certain heavy object, non-work related injury. There is tenderness distal 3rd part of the thoracic spine, and pain in the lumbar area.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
x-ray
  • sclerotic change with almost complete fusion of the sacroiliac joints bilaterally, in keeping with sacroiliitis bilaterally
  • syndesmophyte formation of the lumbar spine
  • thoracic asymmetry curvature to the right side

Case Discussion

This case was discovered by chance when the patient was complaining of pain after lifting a heavy object. Sacroiliitis is usually the first manifestation and is symmetrical and bilateral.
