Presentation
Presented with abdominal pain, fever and developed loose stool for 5 days, last motion was intermittent abdominal which became worse.
Patient Data
Cross-sectional ultrasound examination of the intestine demonstrates target sign, characteristic of ileocolic intussusception.
The intussusception is seen involving the ileal loops into the colon and reaches the ascending colon at the level of hepatic flexure.
Case Discussion
Ultrasound examination of abdomen and pelvis was urgently performed for the evaluation of suspected intussusception. Intussusception was identified in the right upper quadrant involving ileal loops of the colon.
Intussusception was reduced by pneumatic reduction. Intussusception reduction was done using air insufflation through fluoroscopic guidance.
A repeat ultrasound abdomen was done to confirmed complete reduction.
