Presentation

Antenatal screening referred at 14 weeks gestation with a fetal abnormality for a second opinion.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Viable intrauterine monochromic monoamniotic conjoined twin pregnancy.

The study shows conjoined twins:

  • paired body parts include chest, heart, and abdomen
  • separated paired parts include the heads, lower limbs and upper limbs 
  • shared single parts, single umbilical cord

Case Discussion

Classic case of thoracopagus which is a type of conjoined twins with face-to-face, fusion at the level of the thorax and upper abdomen. Heart anomalies are very common findings along with hepatobiliary anomalies.
