Small rounded well-defined lucent lesion (nidus) centered on the posterosuperior angle of S1 vertebral body measuring (10 mm in diameter) with central foci of calcification (central sclerotic dot). and mild surrounding sclerotic reactive bone.
Case Discussion
CT features are most consistent with osteoid osteoma.
CT is the modality of choice to detect the lucent nidus, the surrounding sclerotic bone +/- the central sclerotic dot. The MRI is superior to the CT for the detection of the bone marrow and soft tissue edema.
