A young woman presented with an abdominal mass
Patient Data
A large abdominopelvic cystic mass is seen, with fluid attenuation contents within. No obvious solid area, septations or calcifications are noted within. The mass appears to be intraperitoneal and seen to displace retroperitoneal structures, like pancreas and kidneys posteriorly. Right ovary could not be visualized separately. However, the left ovary is seen separate from the lesion.
Mass effect in the form of compression of bowel loops and right hydronephrosis is also seen.
Case Discussion
Provisional diagnosis of large simple ovarian cyst was considered, in view of abdomopelvic mass in female, and non-visualization of right ovary separately.
Differential considerations:
Final diagnosis and follow-up: Operative and histopathological diagnosis of right ovarian simple cyst was made. 20 liters of fluid was drained intra-operatively.
