Presentation
Traumatic left knee injury, now with pain.
Patient Data
Partial extrusion of the anteromedial medial meniscus with a radial tear of the anterior attachment; adjacent small parameniscal cyst formation and localized edema of Hoffa's fat pad. Lateral meniscus is intact.
Cruciate and collateral ligaments are intact.
Medial compartment partial thinning and full-thickness fissuring.
Case Discussion
Meniscal root attachments typically have a striated appearance, however, in this case, there is a clear fluid signal cleft indicating a tear with secondary signs including partial body extrusion, parameniscal cyst and Hoffa fat pad edema.
