Coracoclavicular distance in red.

Case Discussion

The coracoclavicular distance is an important measurement in the evaluation of the coracoclavicular ligament which may be injured when an acromioclavicular joint injury is suspected.

Its normal average range is between 11-13 mm, but there is a wide range of individual variance, thus making comparison with the normal side important. An increase in the distance >50% compared to the normal side is indicative of a complete acromioclavicular dislocation, although complete dislocations may be seen with increases as low as 25%.
