Screening mammography.

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female

There is a group of calcifications in the lower inner quadrant of the left breast, fixed in orientation on both CC and MLO views, consistent with dermal calcification and known as tattoo sign. Some of the calcifications show lucent centers characteristic of dermal calcification. 

Case Discussion

The tattoo sign is a feature given to describe dermal calcifications seen on mammography and to prove the dermal location of the calcifications; it is helpful to obtain a tangential view or perform a tomosynthesis
