Presentation

Palpable painful superficial nodule of the anterior aspect of the right thigh.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
mri

Relatively well-circumscribed fascia-based nodule of the anterior aspect of the right thigh measuring 28 x 26 x 20 mm. It elicits an isosignal to muscle on T1, heterogeneous high signal on T2 with vivid homogeneous enhancement on postcontrast sequences. Moderate infiltration of the surrounding fatty tissue with no extension to the adjacent muscles.

Conclusion (histological report):

Histological aspect of cutaneous nodular fasciitis (complete excision) with no signs of malignancy.

Case Discussion

The patient underwent complete surgical excision of the lesion with a histopathological exam that confirm the diagnosis of nodular fasciitis.

On imaging, the main differential diagnosis includes soft tissue sarcomas.
