No evidence of pulmonary embolism or any other pathology on CTPA.

Incidentally noted bilateral accessory breast tissue in the front part of the axillary folds.

Case Discussion

The patient arrived to the ED with complaining of chest pain and a sense of airlessness for several days. She reported being on an oral contraceptive and that several of her close relatives had been diagnosed with hypercoagulability. D-dimer was 1.29 ng/mL (normal - up to 0.5 ng/mL).
Dual energy computed tomographic pulmonary angiography (CTPA) was performed to rule out pulmonary emboli, which showed no emboli or lung abnormality, but bilateral accessory breast tissue was discovered in the axillary folds.
The patient was further questioned and remarked that before she had started taking the contraceptive pill, she had felt tenderness in her axillae once in a while.
