Presentation

Left wrist pain and swelling after fall today, local examination: left wrist swelling and tenderness in the anatomic snuffbox with painful and restricted motions.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

X-ray shows a transverse fracture at the distal third of the left scaphoid bone.

Soft tissue swelling is noted.

Scaphoid fractures account for 70-80% of all carpal bone fractures.

Adolescents and young adults are most commonly affected
