Case Discussion

A girl developed lateral ankle pain and swelling after a twisting injury to the left ankle. An initial radiograph was negative for fracture. The ultrasound shows fibular bony avulsion of the anterior talofibular ligament with small effusion in the anterior ankle joint recess.
