Presentation
Right side flank pain and nausea and urinary frequency with a history of prostatectomy.
Patient Data
There is a calculus with coronal height up to 3.5 mm in the distal right side ureter and pronounced hydroureteronephrosis upstream. Perirenal fat stranding on the right side is seen. The prostate gland is not seen. Asymmetrically and diffusely increased bladder wall thickness up to 8-10 mm is also noted. Scoliosis and DJD changes in the spine are seen. Two diverticula one in right and the other on the left posteromedial wall of the bladder with a width up to 8 mm are also seen.
Case Discussion
The case illustrates that chronic urine stasis due to a large prostate gland and/or increased bladder wall thickness can lead to ureteric or renal calculus formation.
