In conclusion, the MRI shows a fragmentation of the os peroneum, a partial rupture and tendinopathy of the peroneus longus tendon proximal to the os peroneum and surrounding soft tissue oedema. This explains the stress-related pain of the patient and the diagnosis of painful os peroneum syndrome (POPS) was made.

The MRI shows a bone bruise of the os peroneum and a surrounding soft tissue oedema as well as swelling. The adjoining peroneus longus tendon proximal to the os peroneum is thikenedthickened and has high signal in the T2-Sequences sequences as well as paratenousparatendinous fluid.
