Abdominal desmoid tumor

Abdominal wall lump.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

Fairly homogeneous lobulated soft tissue mass residing on the anterior abdomino-pelvic wall. It appears to blend with the musculature and has a similar density to muscle.

Case Discussion

HISTOPATHOLOGY

- Microscopic examination shows a spindle cell lesion composed of bland looking spindle cells within collagenous stroma that contains occasional thin-walled non-branching blood vessels highlighted by CD34. The tumor cells show patchy nuclear staining for B-Catenin and are negative for CD34.

DIAGNOSIS
- Features are in keeping with deep fibromatosis / desmoid tumor.
