Abdominal foreign body: razor blade

The patient presented to the ER after accidental ingestion of a razor blade.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male

Approximately 6 hours after ingestion

A metallic foreign body is visible in the region corresponding to the jejunum, without signs of perforation. 


Control x-ray a day later

The foreign body is located in the right colon.

Case Discussion

The case demonstrates that after eventlessly passing through the esophagus even very sharp foreign bodies such as razor blades can exit through natural passage without leading to bowel perforation.
