Abdominal gossypiboma

The patient presented with abdominal pain, tenderness, fever, and pus discharge from the incision site 1 month after hysterectomy.

Age: 65 years
Gender: Female

Abdoimal CT

Heterogeneous intra-peritoneal collection located behind anterior abdominal wall at the level of the surgical incision site. It shows thin enhancing wall with multiple small internal gas bubbles and hyperdense curvilinear structures.

Case Discussion

Considering the history of a recent abdominal surgery, findings are highly suggestive of a gossypiboma.
