Abdominal hydatid disease

Abdominal discomfort. Right upper quadrant ultrasound showed a multiloculated cyst.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

A rounded well-defined cystic mass lesion in the right liver lobe with peripheral wall calcifications and multiple internal smaller daughter cysts.

Two similar fluid density cysts also are seen at the lower intra-abdominal cavity and rectovesical pouch with internal daughter cysts.

Case Discussion

The image appearance is highly suggestive of disseminated hydatid disease, involving the liver and peritoneal cavity.
