Aberrant right subclavian artery

Case contributed by Dr Safwat Mohammad Almoghazy

A known case of colon cancer under metastatic work-up.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Female

Aberrant right retro-esophageal right subclavian artery with Kommerell diverticulum. Normal appearance and caliber of the thoracic aorta with no evidence of dissection. Mild atherosclerotic disease.

Case Discussion

Aberrant right subclavian arteries are the commonest of the aortic arch anomalies.

A bulbous enlargement of the proximal segment of the aberrant right subclavian artery at its origin from the aortic arch is also demonstrated suggestive of Kommerell diverticulum.
