Aberrant right subclavian artery stenosis

Presentation

Chest pain. Significant blood pressure difference between both arms (120/60 in the right, 180/80 in the left) noted on examination.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years

Right-sided aberrant subclavian artery demonstrating arteriosclerotic stenosis at its origin. 

Aneurysmal dilatation of ascending aorta. 

Case Discussion

Aberrant right-sided subclavian arteries are commonly seen variants. 

In this case, the aberrant artery is significantly stenosed by atherosclerotic plaque causing the aforementioned difference in blood pressure.
