Significant dilatation of proximal oesophagus with tapering at the distal parts giving the appearance of bird beak sign.
Pooling of contrast material in the oesophagus.
A delayed image shows opacification of stomach and bowel loops.
Case Discussion
The imaging findings are suggestive of a motility disorder likely to be achalasia. For definitive diagnosis manometry can be considered.
