The MRI sequences demonstrate a complete disruption of the Achilles tendon 5 cm proximal to its calcaneal insertion 'critical zone'. There is a fibrotic scar tissue connecting the proximal, and distal ends of the Achilles tendon.
The plantaris tendon remains intact.
