Achilles tendon tear

Presentation

Trauma to posterior aspect of distal leg - ankle - 2 mths back.

Patient Data

Age: 40 - 45 yrs
Gender: Male
X-ray

Radiograph - Calcaneal spurs. Thinning of achillis tendon shadow in distal leg . Near calcaneal insertion  tendon shadow shows thickening.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound :  Complete tear of achillis tendon is noted approximately  6 cm away from insertion site. Defect ( Gap between two tendon edges ) is 5 cm on at rest ( without planter / dorsiflexion ). Retracted tendon shows thickening. Tendon at inertion site shows normal echopattern.
