Achilles tendon tear

Presentation

M / 50. Left ankle swelling. Clinical diagnosis of achillis tear.

X-ray

Lateral radiograph of ankle shows calcaneal enthesophytes. Thickening of soft tissue shadow of achillis tendon with loss of margin defination is seen. Kager's fat pad is effaced. Bone flake is noted away from calcaneum.

Ultrasound

USG shows complete tear with defect size of 15 mm. Proximal stump shows thick, hypervascular tendon.

Case Discussion

Kindly forgive for improper right - left tagging. The symptomatic tendon is torn. And asymptomatic one is normal.
