Acoustic schwannoma - intracanalicular

Mild left sided sensioneural hearing loss and tinnitus.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male

1.2 cm avidly enhancing lesion in the intra-canalicular segment of the left internal auditory canal with a small internal cystic element.  Minor expansion of the canal.

No cerebellopontine angle component to the lesion.

Case Discussion

A proportion of vestibular schwannomas only involve the intracanalicular segment of the vestibular portion of the vestibulocochlear nerve (CN VIII).
