Presentation

Trauma.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male
MRI

Mildly displaced vertical fracture line with surrounding bone marrow edema/bruise is seen through the acromial process middle third portion.

Type II acromion also is noted.

The acromioclavicular joint is unremarkable.

Abnormal intrasubstance increased fluid signal along with deltoid anterior muscle fibers related to muscle strain.

Isolated acromial fractures are uncommon, accounting for only 8% of scapular fractures
