Presentation

Pain in shoulder post tackled at football.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

Right AC joint is widened with increased coracoclavicular distance and superior displacement of the distal clavicle compared to acromion process. Overlying soft tissue swelling. 

CONCLUSION:

Grade III AC joint injury. 

AC joint stabilization has been performed with fixation present at the origin/insertion of the CC ligament. Mild subluxation of the AC joint persists. 

Case Discussion

The defining aspect of a Rockwood type 3 AC joint injury is superior displacement of the clavicle compared to the acromion as well as an increased coracoclavicular distance.
