Presentation

Sore left shoulder post push bike accident.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

Dislocation of the left acromioclavicular joint, with the clavicle displaced superiorly and widening of the coracoclavicular space (25 mm), consistent with coracoclavicular ligament injury/rupture. This is a grade V injury. Grossly enlocated glenohumeral joint. No fractures detected.

Followup post operative x-ray

There has been internal fixation of the left acromioclavicular joint with a hook-plate. The joint is in satisfactory alignment.

This case illustrates disruption of the acromioclavicular joint with dislocation, requiring open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF).
