The appendix is dilated measuring up to 14 mm diameter, with hyper-enhancing mucosa. Right iliac fossa fat stranding associated with thickening of the parietal peritoneum. No appendicolith or periappendiceal abscess.

Classic history and imaging findings of acute appendicitis. This was confirmed on surgery.
The benefits of CT as the preferred imaging modality over ultrasound are its overall higher accuracy and its ability to better demonstrate alternate causes of pain. In addition, CT is operator-independent.
