An aperistaltic, blind-ended, incompressible bowel loop is seen at the right iliac fossa averaging 8.3 mm in caliber.
This is associated with surrounding echogenic fat planes with mild stranding as well as reactive-looking mesenteric lymph nodes.
On transverse imaging, the characteristic target sign is seen.
Overall features are matching with acute appendicitis.
Case Discussion
The patient's clinical presentation and elevated white count were also consistent with acute appendicitis.
