ultrasound

An aperistaltic, blind-ended, incompressible bowel loop is seen at the right iliac fossa averaging 8.3 mm in caliber.

This is associated with surrounding echogenic fat planes with mild stranding as well as reactive-looking mesenteric lymph nodes.

On transverse imaging, the characteristic target sign is seen.

Overall features are matching with acute appendicitis.
