Acute appendicitis

Edematous, hyperemic, noncompressible post-ileal appendix measuring 10 mm in maximum diameter. The periappendiceal fat is hyperechoic, in keeping with fat infiltration.
There are several nonenlarged mesenteric lymph nodes nearby, most probably reactive.

Classic appearance of acute appendicitis..
The patient promptly underwent laparoscopic appendectomy.
Histopathology report:
Macroscopic description: appendix measuring 7.5 cm in length and 1 cm in diameter, gray serosa with vascular markings. The lumen is of a bloody brown hue.
Microscopic description: acute necrotizing appendicitis with periappendicitis.
