Thickened, hyperemic appendix with a maximum thickness of 21 mm. Hyperemia of the adjacent small bowel and mesenteric fat.
Case Discussion
A markedly inflamed appendix was demonstrated on ultrasound with inflammation extending into the adjacent small bowel and fat. Rebound tenderness at this point. Acute appendicitis diagnosed and confirmed at surgery.
