Acute appendicitis - subhepatic

Presentation

Acute onset of generalized abdominal pain with tenderness at the right lumbar region.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

There is a blind-ending, tubular structure seen at the right lumbar region in subhepatic location representing the enlarged vermiform appendix. It is associated with increased echogenicity of the related fat planes and associated mild amount of intraperitoneal free fluid.

Case Discussion

The sonographic findings are keeping with subhepatic appendicitis.
