Acute aspiration pneumonitis

Loss of consciousness and accidentally falls into pit of organic oil. Acute respiratory failure at admission

Patient Data

Age: 18
Gender: Male

The computed tomography of the chest shows multiple alveolar infiltrates in both lungs, which become confluent to  posterior forming a consolidation with positive air bronchogram . Pleural effusion or thickening is not seen. Great distention of the stomach cavity.

Case Discussion

This case shows severe aspiration pneumonia after falling to a pool of industrial oil, the patient unfortunately died days later.
