Enlarged bilateral palatine tonsils with hyperemia of the mucosa, but no collection. Multiple, reactive, enlarged lymph nodes, some with heterogeneous enhancement in cervical groups II and V.
Pharyngeal mucosal, retropharyngeal, parapharyngeal, submandibular and masticator spaces are normal.
Case Discussion
CT of the neck reveals enlarged palatine tonsils with a serpentine enhancement pattern characteristic of uncomplicated tonsillitis, from infolding of mucosa into the tonsillar crypts.
