Acute calculous cholecystitis


Right upper abdominal pain and fever.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

Sludge-filled gallbladder with neck impacted gallstone and wall thickening. Pericholecystic fluid.

Case Discussion

Ultrasound is the best imaging modality to do this diagnosis. The best diagnostic clue is: impacted gallstone in GB neck or cystic duct, wall thickening (> 3 mm), pericholecystic collection, and positive sonographic Murphy sign.
