Acute cerebral venous sinus thrombosis

Presentation

Sudden onset retro-orbital and temporal headache, neck stiffness and photophobia right side nystagmus. To rule out bleed in the brain.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

Hyperdensities of superior sagittal, right transverse sinuses and bilateral cortical veins on plain study with corresponding filling defects on CT venogram suggestive of acute cerebral venous sinus thrombosis. No parenchymal hemorrhage. There is mild diffuse cerebral edema.

Case Discussion

Treatment of choice is anti coagulation, even if it is hemorrhagic.
