Acute disseminating encephalomyelitis (ADEM)

Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Fever followed by seizures and altered sensorium

Patient Data

Age: 5 years
Gender: Male

Multiple cortical / subcortical hyperintensities involving bilateral frontoparietal lobes and insular regions / external capsules with areas of mild, predominantly peripheral diffusion restriction. Suspicious hyperintensities are also seen involving bilateral thalami and corpus callosum.

The imaging findings with the clinical history, are consistent with acute disseminating encephalomyelitis (ADEM)
