Acute epidural haematoma

Presentation

Head trauma four hours ago.

Patient Data

Age: 8 years
Gender: Female
CT

Acute epidural haematoma along anterior aspect of left frontal lobe, maximum thickness of 14 mm. Diastatic fracture of the left coronal suture. No intraparenchymal haematoma.

Case Discussion

Acute epidural haematomas are usually traumatic in origin and are most often caused by tear of the middle meningeal artery.
