Presentation
Acute and severe left testicular pain, associated with inflammatory signs that started 3 days ago.
Patient Data
Right testicle's ultrasound images are normal, whereas the left testicle presents with increased dimensions and slightly heterogeneous echogenicity, with a diffuse increase in its vascularization and thickening of the skin, besides a reactive hydrocele.
Case Discussion
Acute epididymo-orchitis is an acute inflammatory disease of both the epididymis and ipsilateral testis that usually presents unilaterally and occurs due to specific or nonspecific urinary tract infection. Treatment is imperative and should be started immediately after diagnosis and should include antibiotics, analgesics, and, if necessary, surgery.
